Attorney Biography

Karren Baker is a member of the firm and practices in the San Francisco office.   Ms. Baker's primary focus is environmental coverage litigation.  She represents large international insurers in multi-million dollar cases throughout the country, and provides advice on a myriad of legal issues presented by both historical coverage and newly- issued environmental insurance policies.  Ms. Baker also defends general litigation and employment matters, and advises clients on their obligations under the ever-changing electronic discovery laws, both federal and state.  Her practice includes both trial and appellate work in a number of different states. 

Ms Baker graduated cum laude from Tulane University in 1987 with a B.A. in both English (Language, Writing & Rhetoric) and History.  She obtained her juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1990.  While at Georgetown, Ms. Baker was an Articles Editor for the original Journal of Law and Technology, in addition to being a member of the Jessup International Moot Court team. Ms. Baker was also a performing member of the Georgetown GIlbert & Sullivan Society.

Before joining  Sinnott Dito Moura & Puebla in 1996, Ms. Baker started her legal career with Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger in the Los Angeles and San Francisico offices.  At that firm, she worked on wide variety of business litigation matters, including a securities litigation matter before the U.S. Supreme Court.  

Ms. Baker is a member of the California bar, and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States District Courts for the Central, Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
